Welcome to the West Sussex Children's Services Procedures Manual

November 2018

Welcome to the updated West Sussex Children Services Procedures Manual which is produced and maintained in partnership with tri.x. This replaces all previous procedures manuals.

Please see Using this Manual for full details about the way this manual works. These are some of the key elements you need to be aware of:

  • Procedures - this contains the main policies and procedures that ensures we comply with the law and statutory guidance when safeguarding the needs of the children and families we work with;
  • Practice Guidance - contains local guidance, tools and other information that supports and complements the policies and procedures in the procedures section;
  • WiGLLe – ‘What Good Looks Like’ – these are our Practice Standards for our statutory work;
  • West Sussex ‘One Minute Guides’ – each guide contains a summary of key information that you need to know as a minimum requirement;
  • The West Sussex Safeguarding Children Board is a partnership of all the different organisations working to protect children and young people across the county. West Sussex Safeguarding Children Board follow the Pan Sussex Child Protection and Safeguarding Procedures;
  • MOSAIC - contains “Workflow” and “How to Guides” for specific areas relating to our policies;
  • The manual is updated on a regular basis and you can register to be alerted to any change by using the 'Register for Updates' button below.

This manual has been tested on a variety of up-to-date mobile devices to ensure that it displays correctly. However, if you find that you still cannot use the site select the 'mobile' option at the bottom of the screen. The majority of devices have the functionality to allow a shortcut to be downloaded to the welcome screen by loading the site using the web address and tapping ‘Add to Home Screen’.
