When General Responsibilities Apply

General Responsibilities apply at all times and to every department in the Local Authority (including for example Adult Care and Support, Housing and Children's Services). They apply to all adult residents in the local area (regardless of eligible needs) and throughout all areas of the Care Act, including but not limited to first point of contact, assessment, safeguarding and review. With the exception of the general responsibility to prevent needs for care and/or support all responsibilities also apply to children under the age of 18 who are going through the transition to adult Care and Support.
