Professional Bodies - Referrals

Where a decision is made that it is appropriate to refer an individual to a professional body with which they are registered following the conclusion of an adults safeguarding enquiry, it is the employer's responsibility to make this referral and advise the SAT when it has been made. Employers have their own responsibilities in relation to referrals to relevant professional bodies and should follow their own policy and procedures in relation to this.

Professional bodies will follow their own investigation procedures where a concern is received and it is their decision regarding whether any action will be taken in relation to the individual's professional registration. Professional bodies will contact the individual referred directly to inform them that they have received a referral and will share all information provided to them with the person, along with any other information they may have received from other sources as part of their decision-making process. The Jersey Care Commission must be advised of any referral (to a professional body) being made.
