9.4.4 Child Death Overview Panel - Role Description - Panel Member |
The purpose of the Child Death Overview Panel is to collect and analyse information about each death in Worcestershire. With a view to identifying:
- Any case giving rise to the need for consideration of a Serious Case Review not previously identified.
- Any matters of concern affecting the safety and welfare of children in Worcestershire.
- Any wider health, public health or safety concerns arising from a death or pattern of deaths.
Members of CDOP will:
- Represent their WSCB partner agency on CDOP.
- Attend bi-monthly meetings of CDOP
- Nominate a substitute and endeavour to ensure he/she can attend should the member be unable to do so.
- Obtain and collate information with regard to specific death(s) as required.
- Advise CDOP on particular areas of experience/expertise.
- Contribute to drawing up of recommendations for action in response to a death(s).
- Raise awareness of Child Death Review Processes in their agencies.
- Adhere to the CDOP guidelines on information sharing, confidentiality and disposal of records.
