Dangerous Dogs and Safeguarding Children

This chapter was reviewed and updated throughout and should be reread. Particular attention must be paid while the baby is non mobile or similarly with a non mobile disabled child see section 3 and measure may be required to keep the dog separate including the use of physical barriers if necessary.

Gang Activity, Youth Violence and Criminal Exploitation Affecting Children

This chapter was updated to include a link to the Home Office publication Criminal Exploitation of Children and Vulnerable Adults: County Lines. Information was also added throughout to describe how organised criminal groups exploit young people and use them to distribute money and illegal drugs along ‘county lines’.

The chapter has been produced to reflect Care of Unaccompanied Migrant Children and Child Victims of Modern Slavery: statutory guidance for Local Authorities (2017). It replaces the SWCPP chapters 'Children from Abroad', 'Modern Slavery' and 'Trafficked Children' procedures.
