Using this Manual

This quick guide explains how the manual works.

1. Using this Manual

This is the manual for Herefordshire Children Services. Any copies of old procedures should be discarded.

The manual is laid out as following:

  • Procedures - this contains the procedures that meet the national social work requirements required by the legislation and statutory guidance;
  • Local Resources - this contains local guidance, tools and other information that supports and complements the main procedures. It is important that you use this area;
  • Safeguarding Children and Young People in Herefordshire has a range of guidance on safeguarding topics. These can be accessed from the button on the top toolbar titled 'Safeguarding Guidance'.
    The Regional Child Protection Procedures for West Midlands can also be accessed from the same button and contain the multi-agency procedures for safeguarding. You will need to access these procedures as well.

You can add a shortcut to the manual on the home screen of your phone or mobile device by opening the site using the 'url' (website address) and then on an Android phone tapping the 3 dots at the top right hand corner of the phone browser and from the drop down menu selecting 'Add to Home Screen'.

On an iPhone, open the site in the phone browser and at the bottom of the browser select the icon that looks like a square with an arrow pointing upwards and from the menu that appears select 'Add to Home Screen'.
